How can you help ?
New Idea Challenges
The school is opened for 7 years now. New Idea has
9 employees in total : a school director, 4 teachers, 2 Cleaners, and 2
school van
drivers, including former students of New Idea School. At the moment
New Idea has 138 students aged from 6 to 13 years old from primary
schools of remote villages approximately 20 to 25km far from the center. To transport the students daily, New Idea uses 2 school
vans in two separated turns : morning and afternoon. As a consequence of the COVID crisis, our school is facing many
challenges. The global rising of the prices (diesel for the school vans,
renting, utility expenses) utterly impacts us. We have at heart to
maintain low and reasonable school
fee charges for the low economic families. Therefore the
school fee paid by the families only covers the staff salaries. That is
why, to cover the other expenses, the school would need extra donations
to operate smoothly.
·
Provide
scholarship to students who are living in very poor families.
· Donate money to keep the school running and benefits to marginalized students.
· Donate study material such as books, secondhand computers, tables and chairs.
· Share and follow our social actions and initiatives.
·Apply to our offer of internship as project manager.
· Volunteer in the school and teach students English and various other topics.
New Idea Foreign Language School offers the opportunity for students to learn English with volunteers coming from all around the world. Not only do they learn the language but they also discover different cultures and can follow a specific training on various topics facilitated by the volunteers.

''I stayed in the school for 1 week with my husband and 2 children. We also slept in the school like the other teachers and their families. I taught a few hours a day (4) and my husband filmed 2 days and then edited a nice promotion video for the school. The working hours were flexible and the classes of different levels and ages which was nice as a variety. Every evening we had dinner together and we had the most interesting conversations about running a school, cultural habits and life in general. The children were all so generous, studious and sweet, this was a stay to never forget! We really admire Mr. Sokear for his dedication towards all the kids. He picks them up every day from 5h30 in the morning and drops them in the evening. He knows every child and their family personally. . We hope to go back some day and stay for a longer time! ''

''My entire experience here was just four days short because of my trip
period, but it was still one of the most extensive times I've ever had.
The school was hugely affected by Covid-19 because all schools should
have been closed. They are trying to recover just like they were since a
few months passed. The founder, Mr. Sokea is so
passionate about his dream that all children should have a decent
education and various types of skills that they could live with.
And he and his staff are making a great effort and sacrificing themselves for it.
I highly recommend working and meeting this school, people, and Mr. Sokear.
You can develop your skills and learn many more than you can provide.''

''After spending 10 days with Mr Sokear and the other staff members at the
school, we were very sad to leave. This experience was incredible and
we loved the school, the children and the village. We were given the
opportunity to learn so much about Cambodian culture and teaching in
general. Something that really made this experience stand out to us is the hospitality and generosity of everyone around you. You feel like part of one big family from the minute you arrive.
If you are looking for a rewarding and enlightening experience, then I
would highly recommend teaching here. Also to mention, the working hours
are very flexible and you are given the freedom to teach a variety of
different ages.
Thank you again Mr Sokear and the rest of the family. We hope to see you all again soon ! ''
